How we got there
                  and where we stayed
In 2006 Hilke and I went for 14 days to Kenya. First to relax and enjoy a vacation, but also to feel the warm sun of Africa while it was freezing cold in Holland.
On 01.01.2006 we boarded and had a night flight to Mombassa with Martinair. Star class ...........
Which made us feel very special for a while, all the luxury.
And for the few of you who like to take a peak in the cockpit....
After a long night, 9 hours flight, no sleep, 2 hours waiting on the airport, we finally met our companions, Wim, his wife Cora and Vincent and his partner Diana.
We got a van and we departed to our first wild park, "Tsavo-east".
Ofcourse we where all tired due to the flight, the lack of sleep and the long journey
For our first night we slept in a tent camp.
Our tent number was 18 was soon found. Once opened we saw how luxurious our tent really was, with a complete bathroom and toilet. Only.... beware of the monkeys on the camp grounds. If you keep your tent open you might get an extra visitor.
Ok, the water was cold... but we could shower and use the toilet.
And lunch outside, in the shadow of a tree... what more can you ask for.
With this bus we traveled through the wild parks. I made it possible to stand straight up, in the shade of the roof and gave us the chance to make all the pictures from the car with out getting out of the car.
I think the lions rather had us outside the car.
They love tourists....for lunch.
Some roads
The next day we went to "Tsavo-West". Here we slept in a Lodge called : "Ngulia Safari Lodge". It was a beautiful place to stay with nice views and very friendly guests, the "Hyrax, or Dassies".
Believe it or not, but this little friendly animal is a direct relative of the Elephant.
Can you spot the Rhino?
And their main attraction....
On our third day, we went to our final destination, "The Kilifi Bay Resort"
Believe me... it was hard to live under such poor conditions.......
Work...work...work... they showed no mercy at all.........
Moonlight dinner
Luckely, the company was nice to be with.
And ofcourse...
The beach and the ocean
